L.H. Rather Lady Indians 7th grade basketball team dominated the District 10-AAA district tournament.  The tournament took place in Van Alstyne over the weekend where they captured the first place title.  The girls were seeded fourth to begin the tournament.  They defeated the Commerce Lady Tigers in the first round on Thursday 27-13 holding Commerce to a score of zero in the fourth quarter.

Their first game on Saturday was against the first place seed Van Alstyne Lady Panthers. The Lady Indians had not defeated the Lady Panthers in either game during the regular season.  However on Saturday, the Lady Indians were on fire with that magic number again 27-13.  Bonham went on an 11-0 run to leave Van Alstyne scoreless in the second quarter and only allowed them one point in the fourth. This win put them in the finals against the North Lamar Lady Panthers.

In regular season North Lamar and Bonham each split the wins.  The Lady Panthers were seeded second in the tournament but were no match for the Lady Indians' strong desire and determination.  The Lady Indians out scored North Lamar in two quarters (12-6, 11-3) and tied in the other two.  The Lady Indians were not giving up that first place win, so when the final whistle blew, the score was 36-22.  The 7th grade Lady Indians were the district champions.  The last district title win is unknown.

The girls playing on this team are Cheyenne Abbott, Savannah Dennis, Madeline Dolberry, Britteny Lawrence, Madison Porter, Audra Romans, Empress Sneed, Taylor Stephens, and Kelsey Watkins.  The girls are coached by Amanda Poormohammadi and Cathie Patton.
