COMMERCE — The Commerce Police Department will be hosting a NWS Advanced Weather Spotter class at the Commerce Police Department EOC on April 3 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.  The EOC is located at 1103 Sycamore Street at the Police Department.  Guest Speaker Mark Fox with the National Weather Service will be conducting the Advanced Weather Spotting Training.

The first part of the class will expand on the information provided in the National Weather Service basic storm spotter program. The first hour will investigate the environmental ingredients needed for organized storms, high-precipitation and "classic" supercells, and the cap.  The second half of the program will discuss radar imagery and the analysis of the parameters needed for severe thunderstorms.

Due to the complex topic, it is highly recommended that persons interested in attending complete the NWS Basic Weather Spotting Training prior to this class.

If you would like more information about this course or to register for the course you may call Steve Harrison at (903) 886-1139 or Jim Davenport at (903) 456-5657.
