Bonham -- Bonham senior post T.J. King had another 20-point game, the Warriors gave another gritty performance and if they'd had another time out, Bonham just might have upset Commerce Tigers on Friday.
Commerce led 8-6 after the first quarter, with King accounting for all six Bonham points, and the Tigers had a 31-26 advantage at the half.
But, in their next-to-last appearance at home, the Warriors stormed back to outscore Commerce 17-9 in the third period.
That turn of events gave Bonham a 43-40 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Commerce came out firing in the final frame and the Tigers had a 56-51 lead with just over a minute remaining. Bonham began closing in when King connected on a pair of free throws and then King came right back to knock down a short jump shot to make it a one-point game, 56-55. Commerce hit a free throw, but Daine Dunlap sliced through the lane for a lay-up that tied the contest, 57-57, with less than 10 seconds showing on the clock. With all the momentum now, the Warriors came up with a great steal when Commerce tried to inbound the ball and Bonham called time out to set up one last shot.
Unfortunately for the Warriors, however, they were out of time outs and Bonham was given assessed a technical foul for calling time out with none remaining.
Commerce hit two shots from the charity stripe and added another free throw in the final seconds to win, 60-57.
Commerce's Evan Chapin finished with 24 points to lead all scorers and teammate R.J. Harrison threw in 13 points.
T.J. King led Bonham with 20 points, Hunter Herriage had eight points, Daine Dunlap, Blaze Blain and Daley Biggers all scored seven, Dalton Cagle and Breelan Dunlap both dropped in three points, with Tyler Bee tossing in two points.
