Bonham -- The Bonham Lady Warriors treated their hometown fans to an exciting District 10-3A finale by battling a speedy Commerce Lady Tigers team to a stalemate in the first half before Commerce slowly pulled away to win, 47-38.
This was a much-improved Bonham team over the squad that took on Commerce in the first district go-round. Commerce led that contest by 22 points at halftime.
But Friday night, the scoreboard showed Bonham and Commerce all knotted up at 12-12 after the first period and the Lady Tigers held a slight two-point advantage, 20-18, at halftime.
Commerce finally got a little breathing room in the third period to lead Bonham, 35-28, going into the fourth quarter.
The Lady Warriors and the Lady Tigers traded baskets down the stretch, which gave Commerce a 47-38 victory.
Commerce's Raven Massey poured in a game-high 21 points and April Neal was close behind with 20 points.
Sydney Millhollon had 10 points to pace the Lady Warrior offense, Cesaly Sparks knocked down nine points, Barbara Kemp and Katelynn Bardwell each scored six, Alicia Hall put up three points and Haley Wilkerson had two points.
Commerce improves to 6-2 in District 10-3A. Bonham wraps up district competition at 4-4.
