The Savoy Lady Cardinals remain in first place with their win at Dodd
City. Savoy was able to take a 13-9 lead in the first quarter, but was
able expand their lead at the half to 28-19. Whitney Cooke and Emily
Cornell combined for twenty points in the first half, including two
three-pointers each.
The Lady Cardinals came out hot in the third quarter as Bailey McGehee tossed in thirteen of their twenty-three points enabling Savoy to take a 51-31 lead.
Both teams had huge fourth quarter as Savoy scored eighteen points and Dodd City scored twenty-one points.
Cooke lead Savoy with 20 points and 5 assists and McGehee had 19 points, 3 steals and 4 assists. Emily Cornell tossed in 11 points and had 4 assists, Caitlin McClain had 8 points and 10 rebounds, and Lauren Camp contributed 7 points. Natalie Brasher and Carissa Dillon both had two.
The 69-51 victory keeps the Lady Cards in first place as they meet Ector at home on Tuesday. A Savoy victory will give them sole possession of the district championship,but a win by Ector will make the two teams co-champions. This is a mirror image of last year's game when Savoy traveled to Ector the last game of the season, one game behind.
