Bonham, Texas -- Masonic graveside services for Charles Richard Covert, Sr., 95, of Irving, formerly of Bonham, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 at Willow Wild Cemetery under the direction of Wise Funeral Home.  Charles passed away Tuesday night, Feb. 2, 2010 at Legends Nursing Home in Euless. 

Charles was born July 6, 1914 in Tyler, Texas, the son of Charles Henry Covert and Lola Buckingham Covert.  He attended school in Tyler.  Charles married Ernestine Thelma Sain, June 8, 1935 in Tyler, and they moved to Bonham in 1941.  He was an engineer with Texas & Pacific Railroad and retired in 1975 after 33 years of service.  After retirement, he and Ernestine traveled. 

Charles was a member of Seventh and Main Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge #13 in Bonham for 55 plus years.  He was preceded in death by his wife, May 27, 1999, two sisters, Azale and Bea and a brother, Bobby Covert. 

Surviving are ~

Son:  C. R. “Dick” Covert and wife, Sheila of Midlothian, VA

Daughter:  Frances Atkinson of Irving

Brothers:  James Adam Covert of Texarkana

Sister:  Mary Hooks of Texarkana

4 Grandchildren:  James Atkinson and wife, Jennifer

            Cynthia Leigh Watson and husband, Douglas

            Brent Covert and wife, Nicole

            Kelley Seiler

Great Grandchildren:  Jessica, Cody and Beau Watson

            Rebecca and CiCi Sieler

            John and Claudia Covert

A number of nieces and nephews. 

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, in memory of Ernestine Covert. 

The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until service time, Saturday.
