January 2010 Warrior Boy and Girl of the Month

For the month of January, Jake Brown and Kaitlyn Jones were selected as Senior Warrior Boy and Girl of the Month for Bonham High School.

Seniors are selected by the faculty for their good character, scholarship, citizenship, leadership, dependability, and participation in extra-curricular activities/and or service to the community.
Jake is the son of Don and Tammy Brown. He has one sister, Jamye and one brother, Justin. He is the cousin of Ty Coldiron and is uncle to Jackson Brown.
Jake has been an active member of the FFA chapter and for the past three years has been a member of the show team. He has won: Champion Hereford & Chianina, Campbell Classic 2009; Reserve Overall Champion-Chianina, Wolfe City 2009; Grand Champion Overall-Chianina, Honey Grove Fall Classic 2009; Reserve Overall-Chianina, Fannin County Fair, 2009.
He has also won: Texas FFA Lone Star Degree; Bonham FFA Livestock Judging Team, numerous awards, but best is 7th out of 250 + students, and Bonham FFA Chapter Awards.
While at BHS Jake has been honored for his academic excellence the past three years and also a member of the varsity golf team his freshmen and sophomore years.
Jake’s special interests include raising registered Hereford and Chianina influenced cattle, maintaining his cow/calf operation, participating in the cattle shows and showing registered Heifers. Besides his cattle, Jake is an active participant in the Randolph Volunteer Fire Department and is attending classes and completing an EMT course.
Hobbies include hog hunting and trapping, fishing and hanging out with his girlfriend and other friends.
“I plan to attend Grayson County College and complete all my basic courses,” Jake said, ”and then attend A&M University-Commerce and obtain my degree in Ag Business with a minor in Ranch Management.”
Kaitlyn is the daughter of Stacy Titsworth and step dad Mark Titsworth and her father is Chuck Jones. She has a brother, Tyler; step-brother, Dalton Titsworth ,and stepsister, Kaleigh Titsworth.
Her BHS activities include varsity softball where she has won the Golden Glove Award in 2007, All-District Honorable Mention, 2007 and 1st Team All-District Outfield, 2009. Kaitlyn is also a member of the National Honor Society, newspaper staff and yearbook staff. She has been honored for her academic excellence the past four years.
Her favorite classes are English, BCIS II, and yearbook. When not at school, Kaitlyn enjoys playing softball, spending time with her family and friends, babysitting, shopping, and going to the movies.
In the community, Kaitlyn has helped with Special Olympics, assisted with tours throughout the Sam Rayburn House, sold cupcakes for the Susan G. Koman Foundation, and made and handed out Valentine cards to the veterans a the VA.
“ I plan on attending Texas Tech University or the University of Texas at Arlington and getting my bachelors degree in nursing, “ Kaitlyn said. “ I could not have accomplished all that I have if it was not for God being in my life.”
The seniors selected each month receive a free lunch, compliments of Cappy’s Café, with the administration or a member of the Board of Trustees, have their pictures taken to be displayed in the school library and have their pictures and bios published in the local media.
Once selected, the seniors are then eligible to become Warrior Boy and Girl of the Year which will be announced at the Senior Awards Assembly in May.
