Two City of Bonham employees have hung up their uniforms for the last time. With 45 years of combined service Charles Short and John Colbert have retired. The two were honored with a departmental luncheon on Friday, January 29, 2010.
Lance Capehart, Supervisor of Water and Wastewater Department presented the 2 retirees with certificates for their years of service. Capehart told them how much they have meant to the City and that their work has been appreciated.
When asked what his plans for retirement are John Colbert replied, “Relax and travel when we can.” He also wanted to thank his coworkers and the City of Bonham for “putting up with me so many years.” His total time with the City was 30 years. John’s wife, Lynn, said that she was going to continue loving him and reminding him of his limits.

Charles Short has been employed with the City of Bonham for almost 15 years. He stated that he was looking forward to just sitting back and working around the house and relaxing and just “doing what ever he wants to do.” Charles’ wife stated that she had a honey-do list about 3-feet long and that in the future they would like to travel.

With tears glistening in his eyes, Charles said that he had made many good friends over the years and that it was like working in one big happy family.
The City of Bonham wishes them both well in their future plans. Good luck and congratulations!!
