Bonham -- In a rough-and-tumble contest where tempers flared at times, the Bonham Warriors defeated longtime nemesis North Lamar, 36-23.
Bonham had an 8-6 advantage after the first quarter, with Bonham senior post T.J. King working hard in the paint to score six of the Warriors' points.
North Lamar managed to stay close until late in the second period when Dalton Cagle drained a three-point shot, King got a hoop and a harm, and then a steal by Hunter Herriage turned into a lay-up by Daley Biggers. A free throw by King capped off a nine-point run and Bonham headed to the locker room at halftime with a 22-15 lead.
The Warriors quickly pushed the lead into double digits on another triple by Cagle. Bonham's defense only gave up four points in the third period and the Warriors were even stingier down the stretch, only allowing three points in the fourth quarter to put a 36-23 win in the books.
