The Essilor Vision Foundation and the Kids Vision for Life Coalition present Kids Vision Fest Jan. 19

Free festival to offer free eye screenings to all kids and free exams and glasses to those who qualify, plus book readings, educational activities, games and entertainment  

Tuesday, January 19, 2010   10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

(This is a holiday for Dallas and Irving ISD students due to a teacher in-service day)

FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

In an effort to eliminate poor vision and its lifelong consequences, Essilor Vision Foundation and the Kids Vision for Life Coalition will host Kids Vision Fest on Tue., Jan. 19, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library (1515 Young St., Dallas, 75201).  Free and open to the public, the event will offer free vision screenings to all children and free eye exams and glasses to qualifying children ages 4 – 12. 

Also planned are educational activities, games and entertainment. Note: Jan. 19 is a teacher in-service day for Dallas and Irving school districts.

Children’s authors and illustrators will be on site for book readings throughout the day.  Kids also will enjoy educational vision-related activities and entertainment, plus contests, giveaways, prizes and more.  Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert and Dallas ISD Superintendent of Schools Michael Hinojosa will participate in an 11:30 a.m. program

Although vision screenings are free to everyone, we strongly recommend that organizations bringing groups of children REGISTER IN ADVANCE to qualify for free eye exams and glasses.
