Park Place Dealerships hosted the LaMarcus Aldridge Holiday Hopes Toy Drive benefiting Toys for Dallas Tots throughout the holidays. Park Place even held a "jeans for toys" day where employees could wear blue jeans to work if they donated a new toy to the drive.
“Growing up, I knew what many of these families are experiencing today,” said Aldridge. “Now I am fortunate to help so many families have a brighter holiday.”
Aldridge led a caravan from Park Place Motorcars on Lemmon Avenue to his old stomping grounds at Kiest Park Recreation Center in Oak Cliff to deliver hundreds of toys and dozens of bikes to kids who otherwise wouldn't have much Christmas joy. Dallas Parks and Recreation staff, Park Place Motorcars and the Aldridge family were all on hand to distribute toys that ranged from MP3 players and “Teach and Talk” laptops to bicycles. The children not only received gifts and sat with Santa, but were able to meet a role model who grew up in the same neighborhoods under similar circumstances and achieved success.
Aldridge, a native of Dallas, still calls the city “home.” He played basketball at Seagoville High School and has stayed involved in the community through various efforts including annual free basketball camps. His mother and brother as well as other family members still live here.
