As Fannin County moves forward with plans to become more adept at recycling, Fannin County Commissioners Court approved the purchase of a cardboard baler at the court's regular meeting Monday, December 29.  Funds to purchase the cardboard baler from Lone Star Auctioneers for $2,475 will come from from Precinct 4 purchase of new equipment line item.

Commissioners also approved a minor change to the county travel policy.  Mileage will be determined by Mapquest and defined as mileage from the employee's normal duty station to the temporary duty station.  County employees will receive 50 cents per mile, a slight reduction from the 50.5 cents per mile the county paid the previous year.  Changes to the travel policy will become effective January 4, 2010.

Dale McQueen addressed Fannin County Commissioners Court regarding the possible advantages of securing a loan to build the countywide animal shelter.

Commissioners approved the award of the Fannin County Sheriff's Offoce Vehicle Maintenance Bid.  Bids were submitted by Pro Auto and Red River Tire.  After determining that certain aspects of both bids could be advantageous to the county, both bids were approved.
