In the consolation game of the Bland Invitational Tournament, it was the Trenton Lady Tigers (3-8) taking on the Lady Eagles of Ector.
These two teams met each other a little over a week ago at Trenton where Ector was victorious. However, things changed this outing.
In the first quarter, Ector was perfect from the free throw line to take a one-point lead to end the first quarter, 8-7. But in the second quarter, the Lady Tiger defense stepped up and held the Lady Eagles to four points and took the lead going into the half, 19-12. Coming out of the break, the Lady Tigers continued to play solid defense and increase their lead and finished the third quarter with a 26-14 lead. In the final quarter of the contest, the Lady Tigers were able to hold off any late runs by the Lady Eagles and come away with an 32-20 victory.
"I was really proud for the girls," states Trenton head coach Mike Jones. "They really played a smart game and did all the little things we needed to do to be successful."
Leading all scorers and an All-Tournament Teams selection was Gaby Galvin with eight points, Kristin Rhoden and Alexis Somers each had five points, Joyce Garrison, Shannon Robinson and Cessna Reed had four each, and Marla Frazier rounded the scoring with two points.

The Trenton Lady Tigers will open district play on Tuesday as they travel to Sam Rayburn. JV games starts at 4:30 with the varsity teams to follow.
