Leldon and Barbara (Bostic) Cox of Bonham were honored at a reception celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, November 7th, 2009 at Seventh and Main Baptist Church in Bonham. They were united in marriage at the same church on November 6th, 1959 by the Rev. Charles L. Russell of Linden, TX.

Leldon and Barbara were both born in Bonham and are lifelong residents. Leldon is the son Laudean Cox and the late Glen Cox and is retired from General Cable Corporation.  Barbara is the daughter of the late G.M. and Sarah Bostic and worked many years at Seventh and Main Baptist Church as secretary. She was later employed by Voluntary Purchasing Groups before she retired.

Friends and family congratulated the couple and enjoyed a short video, compiled by their daughter Athena Chaney, highlighting the last 50 years. Barbara’s wedding dress and Leldon’s suit were among the decorations displayed. The guest included four of their wedding party. They were Jo Ann Gatlin Lipscomb and Janet Johnson Weber of Bonham, Kenneth Seale of Lewisville, and Don Pilliod of Benbrook.

The couple have three children, Chuck Cox and his wife Cheryl of Aledo, Vince Cox and his wife Holley of Whitesboro, Athena Chaney and her husband Ricky of Melissa. All seven of their grandchildren were in attendance for this happy occasion.
