Fort Worth Museum of Science and History opens to the public with ribbon cutting ceremony Nov. 20

After breaking ground, Nov. 27, 2007, the new 166,000-square-foot Fort Worth Museum of Science and History building will open to the public. The building was designed by internationally renowned architects Legorreta + Legorreta of Mexico City, with Gideon Toal, Fort Worth, Texas. The new Museum experience features extraordinary exhibits, including: Innovation Studios/Innovation Gallery, Energy Blast, the Fort Worth Children’s Museum, the Cattle Raisers Museum, DinoLabs/DinoDig®, State Dinosaur of Texas - Paluxysaurus jonesi, and the 60-year-old Museum School.

The ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2009 on the front steps of the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History located at 1600 Gendy Street in Fort Worth.
The ceremony will include remarks by Van. A Romans, Museum President; The Honorable Michael J. "Mike" Moncrief, Mayor of Fort Worth; Bob Lansford, Chairman of the FWMSH Board of Trustees; Bradford S. Barnes, President, Texas and Southwest Cattle Raisers Foundation; Melody Johnson, Fort Worth Independent School District Superintendent; and Wally Langham, cast member of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and Fort Worth native.

Fort Worth Mayor Mike Moncrief will proclaim Nov. 20, 2009 as Fort Worth Museum of Science and History Day. The first 3,500 Museum guests will be admitted free. (there will be an additional charge for the Omni IMAX® Theater and Noble Planetarium shows.)
Parking in the Will Rogers parking lot on Gendy Street and in the parking lot on the corner of Harley and Montgomery Streets, behind the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame.
Parade participants in order of appearance: Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base Navy Honor Guard; Fort Worth Police Department Mounted Patrol; and Texas Christian University Band.

Pre-show activities: Dynamo, Museum’s mascot; trick roper; balloons
