2009 Christmas Dinner is officially underway. Catherine Rainbow, of Four Corners 4-H Club, met with Mike Cox at The Savoy Butcher Shop, to discuss turkey and ham for the dinner. This is the second year Cox will be providing meat for the annual Fannin County Christmas Dinner. It’s community partnerships such as this, with The Savoy Butcher Shop, that makes Christmas Dinner a success each year.

The youth from Four Corners 4-H Club are sending out their fundraising letters and will begin visiting the benefactors of Christmas Dinner the week of November 16. The money needed to provide a full, traditional Christmas Dinner to about 400 Fannin County residents each Christmas day is donated each year by Fannin County businesses, clubs, and service organizations. It’s a tremendous network of people helping people, bringing the true Christmas Spirit to life in Fannin County each year. (Donations are tax deductible and a receipt will be provided.)

Volunteers from the community are always needed, to help in the kitchen, serve the dinner, or deliver meals to the homes of residents throughout the county, who are not able to come out for dinner. A full, traditional Christmas Dinner is prepared and served, including: Turkey, Ham, Dressing, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Green Beans, Corn, Sweet Potatoes, Cranberries, Deviled Eggs, Salad, Coffee and Tea. Dessert is provided each year by generous donations from church ladies throughout Fannin County.

Thanks again to the generous donation of the United Methodist Church in Bonham, Christmas Dinner will be served at the Family Life Center at 200 W 8th Street, Bonham at 11 am.

If you’re interested in making a monetary or dessert donation, volunteering, or need a meal delivered to your home, call 903-583-0446, and leave a detailed message. We look forward to partnering with you this Christmas to make it a Merry Christmas for Fannin County!
