In an exhibition game, the Texas A&M-Commerce men's basketball team dropped an 89-65 decision to host Texas A&M on Thursday night in College Station.
The Lions were led by Kevin Hayden, who scored a team-high 11 points in the contest in the loss. A&M-Commerce was held to 39.3% shooting and was outrebounded by the Aggies by a 52-to-24 margin.
All five starters scored in double figures for Texas A&M in the win. Donald Sloan led the Aggies with 17 points and teammate Bryan Davis had a double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. B.J. Holmes added 16 points and dished out seven assists.
Holding an 18-15 advantage midway through the first half on a Brad Hambrick three pointer, the host Aggies scored 29 of the next 41 points in the game to take a 44-30 lead into the halftime break en route to the win.
The Lions will continue their preparations for the upcoming season with the first contest scheduled for November 15 at St. Edward's at 5:30 pm in Austin.
