Show at MPAC presented by Office of Environmental Stewardship and TxDOT
McKINNEY, TEXAS – Metropolis may have Superman, but Texas kids have their own evil-fighting team. Superheroes Hawk, Bolt, Ultra and K-900, the team known as the Litter Force, will visit the McKinney Performing Arts Center (MPAC) on Nov. 19 at 10:15 and 4:15 to help children understand what litter is and learn about litter prevention.
Kids will watch the Litter Force superheroes take on their trash adversaries in an action-packed show and participate in interactive skits. At the performances, audiences participate by shouting "Don't mess with Texas!" when they see littering happening during the show.
The Litter Force includes life-size mascots of the four heroes and the Evil Trash characters Chipinator (a chip bag) and Pop Top (a soda can). The Litter Force travels in a colorful bus that will be parked outside of MPAC during the shows.
The performance tour, now in its third year, is a research-based “Don't Mess with Texas” campaign administered by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and brought to McKinney by the city’s Office of Environmental Stewardship. The Litter Force Web site, www.dontmesswithtexas.org/litterforce, features a new game and downloadable activity book, free litter bags for parents and teachers, and additional resources.
