Melissa Lady Cardinals beat Paris Chisum for bi-district championship

The Melissa Lady Cardinals traveled to Quinlan to take on Paris Chisum in a bi-district match Tuesday evening and came back to Collin County with the bi-district title.

With Caitlin Jones and Bekah Bekah Newberry each knocking down 14 kills, Melissa defeated Paris Chisum, 3-1.  Newberry also had 11 blocks, with seven of those blocks hitting the floor for kills. 

Shelby Hill had three block kills, a pair of blocks and two kills to go along with her 15 assists.

Miranda Bates finished with four kills and she dished off 14 assists to the Melissa hitters.

Taylor Murphy tallied four kills, Mary Beythan made six perfect passes and Skylynn Barker banged down a kill.

Melissa fought off Paris Chisum to win a critical game one, 25-23, and the Lady Cards went up 2-0 with a 25-17 victory in the second game.  Chisum climbed back into the match by taking game three, 25-20, but Melissa slammed the door on any comeback attempt by winning game four, 25-18.

Melissa improves to 18-21 on the season and the bi-district champion Lady Cards advance to the Region II-2A Quarterfinals on  Nov 9-10 to compete against the winner of Pottsboro vs. Gunter match.
