Austin College choirs to perform fall concert Nov. 8

The Austin College choral and vocal ensembles will present their fall concert on Sunday, November 8, at 3 p.m. in Wynne Chapel. The concert is free and open to the public.  

The concert is offered in connection with the celebration surrounding the inauguration of Dr. Marjorie Hass, 15th president of Austin College in its’ 160-year history.  

The concert will include the Austin College A Cappella Choir singing classical, avant garde, and spirituals. The Austin College Chorale will premiere a short piece by Dr. Wayne Crannell, Austin College director of choral/vocal music. The A Cappella Choir will sing Dr. Crannell's “Lord's Prayer,” set in Cherokee.  

The Quartette and Descant, Austin College's "college a cappella" groups, will perform, as will The Consort, an a cappella vocal jazz ensemble, presenting arrangements by The Real Group and Manhattan Transfer. 

Wayne Crannell, associate professor of music, directs the choral ensembles at Austin College. 

The Austin College A Cappella Choir performs at a campus event this fall.
