Artists in our midst: McKinney Art Studio Tour Nov. 14-15

McKinney, Texas, Saturday, November 14, 2009 — Seventeen professional artists in McKinney, Texas will open their studios to the public this November 14th and 15th for a weekend of touring, demonstrations, and sales.  

The 2009 McKinney Art Studio Tour will provide an often unseen view of local visual artists and their unique workspaces in the midst of the McKinney community. During the two day event, visitors can explore the studios; learn about the artists and how their work is made, and buy art in a relaxed atmosphere.  

The mission of the tour is to introduce the community to the diversity of visual artists in the area and provide art education by encouraging interest in the processes, materials and ideas related to art.  

McKinney artists work in a diverse array of media; ceramics, paintings, photography, drawings and more will be on display. A preview of the work to be represented on the tour will be hanging at the European Bistro La Misha at 113 N. Kentucky Street in downtown McKinney from November 3 through the weekend of the tour. Tour-goers can also check out the various artists and their work online at www.mckinneyartstudiotour.info. 

Tickets for the self-guided tour are available in advance from select local businesses, or, during the tour from a docent at any of the tour studios, and cost $5. One ticket is admission to all studios on the tour, with proceeds used to fund the 2010 tour. Attendees may visit any or all of the studios, in any order, on either of the tour days.

The McKinney Art Studio Tour is funded in part by the City of McKinney through the City of McKinney Arts Commission, and sponsored by the Art Club of McKinney.
