Bonham – America’s Heartland, a television showing the families in farming ranching and rural life, opened its fifth season on Sept. 9.

“Broadcasts in high definition show how people across the nation work hard to earn a living in agriculture,” said Jerry Magness, President of Fannin County Farm Bureau. “It is upbeat while informative and entertaining.”

Reporters have traveled across the nation finding stories of history, topics of personal interest and health news. The show is not only targeted to those living in rural areas, urban communities are also featured in the show.  The program explores new technologies and touches on today’s big issues like environmental concerns and food safety.

America’s Heartland has even begun using popular networking pages Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, which offers exclusive videos not seen on the show.  Their website features TV schedules, recipes and agricultural news across the country.

“It focuses toward what is happening now,” said Magness.  “With methods in agriculture rapidly changing, it’s interesting to see how others are coping with it.”

America’s Heartland airs at 8 p.m. on Wednesdays on RFD-TV and on many PBS stations.
