Austin, Texas  --- "PAC off! It's my land!" is the newly filed political action committee for the "Prop 11: Protect Your Property Committee." This new pro-Proposition 11 coalition is comprised of associations and state leaders concerned about abusive takings of private property by government eminent domain. Their goal is to make the current state ban on taking private property through eminent domain for private economic development a part of the Texas constitution.

Treasurer for "PAC off! It's my land!" is Texas Commissioner of Agriculture Todd Staples. Co-Treasurers are presidents from three of the state's most active property rights groups: Brooke Hunt (Texas Association of Realtors), Tina Y. Buford (Texas Wildlife Association) and Dave Scott (Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association).

According to Staples the "Prop 11: Protect Your Property Committee" is raising funds and will launch a multi-media grassroots and social networking campaign beginning on the first day of early voting (Monday, October 19th) and will continue through election day (Tuesday, November 3rd).

Also joining in the effort with Staples are Prop 11's legislative author State Representative Frank Corte and legislative sponsor State Senator Robert Duncan. Other state leaders include Governor Rick Perry, Lt. Governor David Dewhurst, House Speaker Joe Straus, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, State Senator Craig Estes, State Representative Aaron Pena, State Representative Beverly Woolley and State Representative David Leibowitz (Pena and Leibowitz were also Prop 11 co-authors).

The Prop 11 supporters also plan to travel across Texas to rally property owner interest in the constitutional amendment election. The November ballot will offer 11 constitutional amendment propositions for voter consideration.

"The critical question for homeowners and other private property owners is not can you afford the time to vote in this election, rather it's can you afford not to?" said Staples. "A vote for Prop 11 is a vote for property owner piece of mind and protection."

"Prop 11: Protect Your Property" Supporters Speak Out!

"The Texas Association of REALTORS supports the passage of Prop 11 because this enhances the protection of private property rights by placing in the Texas Constitution clear restrictions on the use of eminent domain; closes a loophole that allows governmental entities to take well-maintained land on grounds of "blight;" and requires any new eminent domain authority granted by the legislature must be by a 2/3rds vote. All of these provisions protect our right to enjoy our private property and that is what makes Texas a great place to live.”
Brooke Hunt
Chairman, Texas Association of REALTORS

“Proposition 11 is a positive step to secure the private property rights of all Texans against the abuses of eminent domain. It may be the last measure on the ballot, but to our association and its members, it’s the most critical. Texans must be protected from the capricious use of eminent domain by governments for private enrichment.”
Tina Y. Buford
President, Texas Wildlife Association

“Prop. 11 is the first step toward stronger eminent domain laws in Texas. Without eminent domain reform, Texans will continue to lose their rights to own property,”
Dave Scott
President, Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association

“The passage of Prop 11, a constitutional amendment that will be sent to the voters in November, provides much needed protection to ensure that, in the unfortunate instance that government must exercise condemnation powers, that it is for a clear public use and purpose.”
Hon. Todd Staples
Texas Commissioner of Agriculture
Treasurer, "PAC off! It's my land!" Prop 11: Protect Your Property Committee

“Eminent domain is used on a regular basis without outcry when necessary for public use, but the public is rightfully outraged when that power is misused. (Prop 11) will finally give the citizens of Texas the opportunity to pledge their support for protecting private property at the ballot box.”
Hon. Frank Corte,
Legislative Author of Prop 11, San Antonio area State Representative

"Using eminent domain authority to transfer property from one person to another without regard to proper public use is inappropriate, and Texas voters are ready to make this statement part of our state’s Constitution by passing Proposition 11."
Hon. Robert Duncan
Senate Sponsor of Prop 11, Lubbock/West Texas State Senator

"Land ownership is an essential part of our state’s culture and we owe it to Texans to protect their rights as landowners and members of the community. Prop 11 represents good forward motion in the effort to limit abuses of eminent domain and is the latest in an ongoing process that will ultimately result in genuine Texas-style private property protections. I encourage Texans to go to the polls this fall and vote yes on prop 11 to further protect landowners' rights."
Hon. Rick Perry
Texas Governor

"In Texas, our property rights are as sacred as the most fundamental American freedoms of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Passing Proposition 11 will ensure that Texans' property rights are protected, and that no person's land is taken for another individual's personal enrichment."
Hon. David Dewhurst
Texas Lieutenant Governor

"Few things are more precious than a Texan's home and private property. Proposition 11 will enhance protections for Texas landowners by guarding against unwarranted government land grabs."
Hon. Greg Abbott
Texas Attorney General

"Every Texan needs to vote for Prop 11 on November 3. It is an important first step in the continuing fight for comprehensive eminent domain reform."
Hon. Craig Estes
North Texas area, State Senator

“I encourage everyone to vote Yes on Proposition 11 and protect your property from unjust condemnation and seizure through eminent domain. Proposition 11 puts protections in our Texas constitution addressing the U.S. Supreme Court’s Kelo decision. Prop 11 will prevent the government from taking your private property through condemnation, to provide to another person for their personal gain, and for example turning it into a shopping mall just for the extra tax revenue. That is not right, and that is why I co-authored this amendment with Representative Frank Corte.”

Hon. Aaron Pena
Edinburg area State Representative
"Proposition 11 is a big step forward for private property owner protection and deserves the support of Texas voters. However, we must not lose sight that private property owners still need additional legislative protections to guarantee adequate compensation and fair treatment when they sacrifice their property for merited public use."
Hon. Beverly Woolley
Houston area State Representative

"Prop 11 will put into the Texas Constitution much needed protections for landowners from the misuse of eminent domain by local governments. The proposition will close a loophole in existing law that allows local governments to seize well-maintained property because adjacent property is blighted. Prop 11 will also stop local governments from seizing private property and then selling it to private developers to increase their property tax revenue. I urge all Texans to protect their property from the misuse of eminent domain by voting for Prop 11."
Hon. David McQuade Liebowitz
San Antonio area State Representative
