While a soft rain fell outside, the soft harmonies of Adler & Hearne fell on the ears of listeners that made their way to Harmony House in northern Fannin County for another memorable evening of acoustic music and poetic lyrics.

The vintage home of Faye Wedell & Scott Lipsett makes an intimate venue and Harmony House certainly lived up to its name on Sunday.

Lynn Adler and Lindy Hearne compliment each other in so many ways, but this is a match made in harmony heaven when Hearne's smooth baritone wraps around Addler's amazingly crisp lead vocals.

At times -- particularly on a song called "A Hundred Years From Now"-- Adler's tone and control as she whispered the notes ever so softly were reminiscent of the songbird herself, Eva Cassidy.  As it turns out, some of the lyrics to that song were contributed by Tom Prasado-Rao, a friend who played with Cassidy when the two musicians were coming of age in the Washington, D.C. area.

Lynn Adler was born in Ada, Oklahoma before making her way to Dallas, Texas.  Lindy Hearne is a native of Fort Worth with a remarkable history in the music business.  Hearne was hired by Roy Clark to be his bandleader in the early 1970s. Hearne is also friends with Jim Stafford.  Everyone remembers Stafford as the songwriter who penned "Spiders and Snakes," but few know Stafford was in a high school band with a legend in the making, Gram Parsons, and Lobo ("Me and You and a Dog Named Boo"). Not a bad trio!

Adler and Hearnes treated the Harmony House crowd to beautifully crafted tales of their beloved East Texas farm ("Goolsby's Pool") and lost love ("Lookin' For a Bridge to Get Me Over You").

"Rock and a Hard Place" may be the one that makes them famous -- great hooks, catchy lyrics and nice music all the way through -- a real diamond!

If Adler & Hearnes hit it big, the Harmony House regulars can say they saw them first in rural Fannin County.

Up next at Harmony House will be David Roth on October 17.
