Sherman Community Players’ managing director Ron Cassady has announced the cast for the local theatre’s upcoming season opener Always, Patsy Cline, a country western musical comedy based on the true story of the friendship between the late country superstar and a devoted fan from Houston.

Heading the cast is Julie Johnson of Whitewright as Patsy Cline, and Karen Schuth of Denison is cast in the role of Louise Seeger, the fan.  Playing over twenty Patsy Cline songs will be band members Ben Vincent from Tom Bean on steel guitar and fiddle, and from Sherman, Mike Williams on guitar, Fred Freeman on bass fiddle and Frank Steele on drums. Rounding out the band is Dan Althoff from Durant.   Scottie Johnson is the music director and Chessica Burton serves as stage manager.

The show will play October 2 through 25, and tickets go on sale to the general public on Monday, September 28.  Season members will have the advantage of calling in one week earlier, beginning September 21.   Early group reservations can now be made by calling Darlene Schweizer at 903-893-7652. 

Julie Johnson, native Whitewright singer-actress and veteran of Broadway, Off-Broadway and numerous regional theatre productions, will star in the title role of this country-western musical by Ted Swindley. 

Based on a true story about the lasting friendship between the late country superstar and a devoted fan from Texas, this nostalgic and entertaining show is full of laughter, tears and over 20 Patsy Cline hits.

Playing the role of the enraptured fan will be SCP comic actress Karen Schuth who has been delighting audiences for the past several seasons as June in the Smoke on the Mountain trilogy  - "I don't sing, but I do sign."

According to director Cassady, the SCP production of Always, Patsy Cline in October should not be confused with The Community Series presentation of The Almost Patsy Cline Band which will play in the Kidd-Key Auditorium during ArtsFest on September 16.
