The Vestry of the Church of the Holy Trinity has petitioned the Bishop of the Diocese of Dallas to approve the appointment of Rev. David Krause as its permanent Priest-in-Charge following the retirement last September of its longtime and beloved Vicar, Rev. William Dalton. It is expected that Fr. Krause will begin his ministry at Church of the Holy Trinity on the first Sunday in September.

The Rev. David Krause, while not technically an Iowa farm boy, comes pretty close.  He did spend a couple of years on the farm, but actually grew up in the town of Jefferson, IA.  After graduating from the University of Iowa in 1980, he moved to Oklahoma, to pursue graduate work in philosophy at the University of Oklahoma.  While a grad student at OU, he joined the Episcopal Church.  In 1987 the Diocese of Oklahoma sent him to the Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, VA.

Upon graduation in 1990, with one of the periodic oil crunches hitting the Oklahoma economy, Father Krause was released to the diocese of Western Kansas, where he was made Rector of St. Luke's church in Scott City, as well as Vicar of St. Francis Church in Russell Springs.  These two yoked congregations, located in the far western part of the state of Kansas, are 70 miles apart, if driving the back country roads.  Paved roads made the trip into a 120-mile journey (one way!).  For three years Fr. Krause served the spiritual needs of a scattered set of congregations across six counties of the High Plains. He also taught as an adjunct faculty member for the Roman Catholic college of St. Mary of the Plains in Dodge City, and Garden City Community College, in Garden City.

In 1993, Father Krause accepted a call to become the Episcopal Chaplain to Texas Tech University, in Lubbock.  While there, he completed work upon his MA in Philosophy (with a concentration in Phenomenological Aesthetics) and taught at Texas Tech.   Very active in the Diocese of Northwest Texas, Fr. Krause served on the Executive Council, Cursillo Secretariat, Companion Diocese Committee, Convener of the Task Force on Sexual Misconduct in Church Settings, Budget Committee, and as chair of the Commission on Ministry and Youth Committee.  Nationally, he was also very active in the Episcopal Society for Ministry in Higher Education, serving as a member of the Board of Directors, and eventually as Treasurer.

As a member of the staff of the Bishop of the Diocese of Northwest Texas, Fr. Krause would travel long distances and preach numerous times on an average Sunday.  His preaching seems to inspire a number of people with the gospel's constant emphasis upon hope, health, and celebration.  A gifted teacher, he has led numerous retreats, workshops, quiet days, and classes at many congregations, conferences across the country, and the Triennial meeting of the Episcopal Church Women.  An understanding and patient presence, listening and being with the people of God is perhaps his favorite activity.

In 2006, Fr. Krause moved to McKinney, where he became Rector of St. Peter's church.  His son is off to Tulane on Friday.  He enjoys sports, writing Icons (in the Russian fashion), reading, everything Mac (computers), and organic gardening (when he gets the chance).

The Church of the Holy Trinity in Bonham is a member of the worldwide Anglican Communion of the Church of England. The members of Holy Trinity look forward to the youthful spirit that Father Krause brings to its pulpit and his spiritual leadership.
