An Alzheimer's Caregiver Class uniquely designed for in home caregivers is scheduled for Friday, August 7, 2009 in Bonham, TX. The six-hour class is designed for relatives and friends of those with Alzheimer's. Sitters, nurse aides or companions who provide care for persons with any type of dementia will also find this class helpful. Attendees include those who are currently working with someone with Alzheimer's or who may do so in the future.
This Alzheimer’s Association class will include morning refreshments and lunch. Association Manager of Family Services for Texoma, Dianna Niemann-Harris said, “We are so glad to offer this class in Bonham again and appreciate use of the Elizabeth May room at the bank. For some 24/7 caregivers, this class is one of their few times of respite, and enjoying a good meal with congenial company is a real treat!”
The class covers physical care, dealing with problem behaviors, ways to communicate effectively, and how to help insure the safety of a person with Alzheimer’s. This unique learning opportunity is from 9am to 3pm at American Bank of Texas, 120 West Sam Rayburn in Bonham. The class is free to relatives of persons with Alzheimer's or related dementia. There is a $25 fee for the professional caregiver.
