The Tom Bean City Council met on Monday night, June 8 at 6:00 with two new council members in attendance.  Mike Upchurch and Lisa Collins joined the other members of the council (Jerry Harris, Albert Ellis and Janet Schaab) along with Tom Bean Mayor Sherry E. Howard.  Mayor Howard presented the Employee of the Month award to John Sawyer, Public Works Supervisor. 

Chief Webster presented the Reserve of the Year plaque to Officer Larry Rittenhouse prior to the business meeting.  The council elected a new mayor pro-tem for the 6-month rotational period and Lisa Collins will take on this position.  The council also voted against an additional 4-week request from a construction company and will take appropriate action to remove the debris of a demolished house in the city.

The council approved an $1100 bid for the installation of two awnings over doorways at the city hall building to Moody Construction.

The mayor updated the council on the ORCA grant activity in the city. Phase I, which consisted of the reconstruction/repainting /new logos on the downtown water tower, has now been completed and the Construction Observation walkthrough found no repairs or defects to be made at this time. 

Phase II, which consists of laying new water lines around certain areas of town and the installation of 11 new fire hydrants, should be completed by the end of June. 

The council was also updated on the street repair slated for this year and was told that the county is scheduled to start their activity by mid July.
