TxDOT officials are hopeful to have repairs completed by Wednesday and traffic flowing on U.S. Hwy 82 again after a sinkhole developed Sunday over a pipeline that runs under the highway between Choctaw Creek and Craft Road.

A depression began forming in the pavement Sunday, May 31 and TxDOT crews arrived on the scene to place warning signs.  When the crew began repairs a sinkhole developed.  U.S. 82 remains closed between 1417 on the east side of Sherman to Bells.

Kevin Harris, TxDOT engineer in the Sherman office, is hopeful that repairs can be completed and the highway reopened by Wednesday, although rain has hampered work at the site.

Westbound traffic from the Bonham area can either take Hwy 56 to Sherman or use U.S. 82 until the detour in Bells.
