Laura Moore Fine Art Studios in downtown McKinney, Texas, is pleased to present the work of James Malone in an exhibition, "Gritty Details." The exhibition will open with an artist’s reception from 7 pm – 10 pm on the evening of June 13th and continue through July 8, 2009. This exhibition features amazing photo realistic images of the earth patterns, terrain and atmosphere of West Texas.
Malone’s work at first glance appears to be a simple black and white photo until the strokes of the artist’s drawing suddenly become apparent. These drawings, though done in simple pencil and paper, draw the viewer in with painstaking detail until they can’t help but to be seduced by the natural beauty of Texas.
Malone, native to upstate New York, where he graduated from The University of New York, came to Texas Christian University as a graduate student in 1968. He now lives and works in Fort Worth. His work has been featured at various galleries around the United States and included in museums, such as the Whitney Museum of American Art and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art to name a few.
Laura Moore Fine Art Studios is located just south of the square in historic downtown McKinney at 107 South Tennessee Street. The gallery features a new exhibit every second Saturday in participation of downtown McKinney’s Second Saturday Art Walk. Maps are available at the gallery to assist in locating all participants of the art walk.
