The Texas A&M University-Commerce women's track and field team finished fourth and the men finished fifth at the Lone Star Conference Championships on Saturday in Kingsville, Texas.
Angelo State won the women's team title with 331 points and Abilene
Christian won the men's title with 238 points. The Lions' women's team scored 23 points and the men's team recorded 49.
A&M-Commerce freshman Cody Hughes was second in the 5,000-meter run, finishing in a time of 15:24.74. Junior Gerardo Delafuente was 11th in 16:47.26 and senior Logan Kelly was 16th in 17:17.15.

Sophomore Brandon Womack was third in the 800-meter run, crossing the line in 1:58.65. The margin for the top three places was very close as eight hundredths of a second separated second and third place finish and 29 hundredths separated first through third place honors.
The Lions' men's 4x400-meter relay team of Albert Sinegal, Cairo Thornton, Leonard Jackson and Brad Dotson were third in a time of 3:17.20.
Junior Sunny Henderson was fourth in the javelin with a throw of 143-4 and also finishing fourth was sophomore Makesha Brewer in the 400-meter dash (1:00.89).
Senior Leslie White took fourth-place honors in the javelin with a throw of 176-10 and senior Anthony Valle was 11th with a throw of 147-6. In the triple jump, senior Lyndon Wyse was fourth (48-4 1Z2), freshman Kyle Weaver was ninth (43-8 1Z2) and freshman Colby Oberle was 10th (43-5).
Seniors Randahl Hickman and Alycea Wallace were fifth (12.60) and sixth (12.71), respectively in the 100-meter dash. Junior LaıShara Jefferson was eighth in the discus (120-8); sophomores Megan Davis and Erica Anderson were 10th (114-2) and 11th (110-0), respectively. In the womenıs triple jump, freshman Desireé Spencer was eighth with a jump of 35-1 1Z4) and sophomore Dena Hawkins was ninth with a jump of 32-4 1Z4.
The Lions' men's 4x100 team of Leonard Jackson, Cody Bolton, Brad Dotson and Chad Washington finished fifth in a time of 42.18. Junior Cairo Thornton was sixth in the menıs 400-meter dash in a time of 50.64 and in the 1,500-meter run; freshman Ray Moreno was 11th in 4:50.40. Senior Jeff Rayome posted a 19th-place finish in the discus with a throw of 122-10.
Senior Leslea Traylor was seventh in the womenıs 400-meter hurdles (1:09.92) and in the womenıs 1,500-meter run, sophomore Kate Donovan was ninth (5:33.65), freshman Emily Gibson was 10th (6:00.00) and sophomore Jamie Hays was 11th (6:44.71). In addition, freshman Gaby Greer was 18th in the 5,000-meter run (22:43.11).
For five Lions, the season has the possibility to continue at the NCAA
Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, May 20-22 at Angelo State, as they have posted NCAA provisional marks throughout the season.
Nationally, as of May 9th, junior La'Shara Jefferson has posted the
sixth-best throw in the discus, senior Leslie White has the 13th-best throw in the javelin, senior Lyndon Wyse in the triple jump has the 13th-best jump, junior Sunny Henderson has the 14th-best mark in the javelin and senior Jeff Rayome ranks 28th in the shot put.
