A resident on Lovers Leap Lane near Gunter got into his truck and drove to the end of the driveway and the engine died and would not start. The man got his truck back to the residence and could not get the oil dipstick out. Finally he did and the oil was hard. A mechanic looked at this truck and said someone had tampered with his oil. This case is still under investigation.
County Court at Law Bailiff J.D. Cook was inside his court and heard a disturbance in the hallway. He exited his courtroom to see a male subject kick a trash can in the direction of a female and grab her by the throat as she sat on a bench. Bailiff Cook escorted the man to an empty courtroom where Lt. David Hawley from the Sheriff’s Office was called to take the man into custody for an on-view assault charge for Bailiff Cook.
The man, identified as John Joseph Castaldo of Howe, was awaiting divorce court when the altercation occurred. Castaldo was placed in the Grayson County Jail for Assault Causing Bodily Injury Family Volence and was released after posting a $2,500.00 bond.
While on patrol, Deputy Ryan Miller discovered an abandoned golf cart on the side of the road north of Pottsboro. In running the serial number, it was found not to be stolen. The golf cart was picked up by a wrecker service and stored until an owner reported it missing or Sheriff’s Office.
