Automobile accidents are, regrettably, often the result of a series of factors.  Unfortunately that seemed to be the case Christmas morning when a two-vehicle collision claimed the lives of three people, sent two paramedics to the hospital and cast a pall over the close-knit crew of the Bonham Fire Department that operates the local ambulance service.

An ambulance, returning to Bonham in the early hours of December 25, collided with a gray late-model Chevrolet Impala driven by Pamela Touart, 59, of Shreveport, Louisiana.  Touart and her twin 29-year-old sons, Cameron Boudreau and Kip Boudreau, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators report the ambulance had responded to an emergency call in southern Fannin County early Christmas morning, however the patient did not require transporting. At approximately 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 25, the ambulance traveled north on FM 981 between Leonard and Trenton as the crew returned to their station in Bonham.

Although it certainly looks very different in broad daylight, a collision at this intersection early Christmas morning resulted in three fatalities.

At Hwy 69, the ambulance turned left and was struck on the passenger side by the Impala.  The impact sent both vehicles careening off to the north side of the road.

TxDOT officials plan to recreate the accident scene in order to determine causual effects.
