DALLAS – December 16, 2008—McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. (www.mccarthy.com), a Texas builder since 1980, announced the recent hire of John Cruz as the Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) specialist for the firm’s Texas division. In this role, Cruz will be responsible for developing 3-D drawings for self-performed formwork, overseeing site logistics and creating construction models for coordination. Cruz will also conduct divisional Building Information Modeling (BIM) and CAD training.
Prior to joining McCarthy, Cruz served as the mechanical designer / Tier 1 CAD coordinator for Bridgers & Paxton Consulting Engineers, Inc., in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he assisted company principals and personnel managers with development and implementation of company-wide CAD standards and procedures. Cruz also managed 14 drafters, designers and engineers while simultaneously enforcing company standards and protocol.

Cruz graduated with an Associate of Applied Science in CAD Technology from ITT Technical Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Prior to earning this degree, Cruz served four years in the U. S. Navy as an operations specialist. Cruz currently resides in North Richland Hills, Texas.
