The youth of Four Corners 4-H Club are in the midst of preparing for Christmas Dinner.

“We are excited to have Mr. Cox, of The Butcher Shop, in Savoy, preparing our ham and turkey for Christmas Dinner. He helped us with ham last year and it was delicious," said Daniella Rivera, Chairperson of the Christmas Dinner Committee. "Church ladies have donated desserts to Christmas Dinner each year. We so appreciate the time they take to make an extra pie or treat each year. We’ll be depending upon their generosity again this year. The United Methodist Church will once again donate the use of the Family Life Center for the dinner."

In addition to meal planning, fundraising is underway.  Fundraising letters have gone out and the children will begin making their personal visits to local businesses Monday, December 8. Many repeat donors write a check and mail it or call for a club member to pick it up. Others have a check waiting for the children when they walk in the door.

"Sometimes people are uncertain of the amount they should give” Daniella stated. “I always tell them to give what they feel comfortable with. Like the old saying goes, ‘It’s the thought that counts.’ We’re in this together. When it all adds up, we’ve got what we need to feed the 400 resi dents of Fannin county.”

(All donations are tax deductible, a receipt will be provided by Four Corners 4-H Club.)

The needs of the Christmas season can be somewhat overwhelming. Together we are making a difference in the lives of people, right here where we live, with our neighbors and friends.  Christmas Dinner is a free, traditional Christmas dinner served with all the trimmings on Christmas Day at the Family Life Center at 200 W 8th Street, Bonham, from 11 am until 2 pm. It is open to anyone who would like to come.

In addition, meals are delivered to the homes of Fannin county residents in need of a meal, who cannot attend the dinner. Music and entertainment is provided throughout the dinner time. It’s a festive celebration with our Christmas Dinner friends!

Four Corners 4-H thanks all of the community businesses, service clubs, churches, and individuals, for their financial donations and volunteer time.  They encourage everyone to remember our local businesses when making a purchase.

Many hands make the work light. We depend upon the individuals who volunteer their time to serve with us. We’re in need of delivery drivers, servers and people to help in the kitchen. Individuals needing a meal delivered Christmas Day should call the number listed below. Anyone interested in helping Christmas Dinner with a monetary donation or with their time volunteering on Dec. 24 or 25, may call 903/583-0446. Merry Christmas!
