Beaumont, Texas   --  United States Attorney Rebecca A. Gregory announced the arrest of a man charged in the burglaries of two east Texas pharmacies.  Terrence Lamond Merchant, 28, was arrested November 26  by agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and officers of the Beaumont Police Department.

Merchant was indicted by a federal grand jury on November 5, 2008 on charges related to burglaries of two east Texas pharmacies and the possession of more than 5000 units of hydrocodone with the intent to distribute.

This case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Beaumont Police Department and the Jasper Police Department, and is being prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Christopher Tortorice.

It is important to note that an indictment is merely a charge, and should not be  considered evidence of either innocence or guilt.
