Bonham -- Memorial services for Sgt. 1st Class Miguel A. Wilson, 36, will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 2 at the First Baptist Church in Bonham.
Sgt. Wilson died Friday, November 21 in Abu Sayf, Iraq from injuries sustained during a rescue attempt of another soldier while their unit was conducting a dismounted reconnaissance mission.
"He was a good young man," said his mother, Wanda Wilson. "He said, 'momma, I'm going over there to fight for you and my sister and America.' He was a very proud soldier."

Miguel was a 1990 graduate of Bonham High School, where he excelled at football and was close friends with many of his fellow students and teachers.
Sgt. Wilson, a career soldier with 11 years of active duty in the U.S. Army, was on his second tour in Iraq. He was assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Hood, Texas.
A wake will be held Friday, November 28 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in Killeen and a military funeral will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 29 at 19th Street Chapel, Fort Hood.
