This will serve as the beginning of a series of updates regarding the development of a 5-year strategic plan for McKinney ISD.  Several weeks ago we began to communicate information about the purpose of the plan, the timeline, and information about how you can get involved.

Last week, a group of 30 community members, teachers, students, and administrators met to begin the process.  The committee met for roughly 30 hours over a three-day period and sought to develop the overall beliefs, mission, objectives, parameters, and strategies for McKinney ISD.  These will serve as the umbrella and foundation for which more detailed priorities will be developed by action teams in the coming weeks.

We expect between 150 and 200 parents, teachers, and community members to serve on action teams to help develop specific action plans.  An action plan is the operational plan of action that focuses on the development of the strategies found in the plan. This is the most critical phase of the planning process. The action plans will be specific and will identify responsibilities, timelines, and resources necessary to meet the various objectives.

We believe that McKinney ISD is an exceptional school system.  However, we must be willing to identify opportunities for improvement, and seek innovative ideas that will enable us to move to the next level.  If you would like to learn more about the 5-year Strategic Planning Process, or to become involved, please click here.
