Tom Bean’s Wes Hall spoke of the feelings of frustration in the Tomcat locker room ahead of their game against the S&S Rams. These feelings come as no surprise to Tom Bean fans, as their beloved boys’ basketball team has twice come incredibly close to their first district win, but failed to come out on top. Friday’s game did not do anything to alleviate those feelings, as the Cats yet again fell to a narrow defeat by a score of 46-44.

Their loss was not in vain, however, as the visitors put forth one of their better performances of the season. The Cats trailed by just one point at the end of the opening quarter, and were down by six at the half. Junior Keton Parrish continued his outstanding run of play, and finished the game with 18 points. Parrish’s fellow classman Jake Garner and senior Travis Morgan were also playing well and bagged 10 points each.

Coming out of the half, it was all Tomcats. The Rams were outscored 15-5 in the third quarter, and trailed 34-30 at the start of the fourth. However, S&S found their form. Lead by Ben Krueger’s 17 points, the Rams battled back to a narrow victory. Tom Bean’s Coach Kevin Colston might have been upset, but seemed to be satisfied with his team’s performance.

Now it’s the boys turn to enter the second half of district. They will travel to Callisburg on Tuesday and try and get a bit of revenge against an always tough Wildcats team.
