, Texas (Aug. 7, 2008) – This month’s Second Saturday on Sept. 13 in downtown McKinney will feature more outdoor activities, thanks to the city’s almost complete infrastructure project on the downtown square.
“We’re going to be moving out into our wide new sidewalk patio with live music, weather permitting,” said Bob Landon of Landon Winery, located at 101 N. Kentucky. “Now that this construction project is almost complete, Second Saturday is really gearing back up to be bigger than before.”
Musical performer Tyla Tailor will perform on the sidewalk outside Landon Winery and Rick’s Chophouse, 107 N. Kentucky, while Autumn Barr will perform indoors in the Grand Lounge. In addition to this live music, the offerings this Saturday include entertainment, specials at the shops and food and drink.
Entertainment at the Art Galleries and Eateries/Wineries:
· College football on seven HD-TV screens all day at The Cadillac Pizza Pub, 112 S. Kentucky. Pizza-by-the-slice and happy hour drink specials until 7 p.m., with live music that night.
· Poppy's Garden Cafe, 107 S. Church, will host a free art show by Susan Hanson from 7 to10 p.m.
· Lone Star Wine Cellars, 103 E. Virginia, will feature live music by Jeff Delaney as well as "The Club” memberships and specials on wine tastings.
· Pianist Chris Sanderson will perform with Kelli Durbin at The Lavender House Tearoom, 207 E. Virginia.
· Orisons Gallery, 110 E Louisiana, will host an “Art Bash” from 7 to 10 p.m. in their newly renovated gallery. All Orisons’ artists will be on hand to discuss their work while visitors enjoy wine, cheese and other refreshments. Entertainment will be provided by vocalist Shasha Tuck.
· Laura Moore Fine Art Studios, located at 129 S. Tennessee, opens “on the grid,” a fine art exhibition featuring new work by Laura Moore in oils and acrylics with a Second Saturday reception from 7 to 10 p.m. The gallery will offer complimentary wine, appetizers and fine art with live music provided by John Wynn’s McKinney Guitar Studio featuring acoustic guitarist Alex Miller.
· The Garret Art Gallery, 111 E. Virginia, will be open until 10 p.m. featuring new work by gallery artists and free refreshments. Several of the artists will be on hand at the gallery.
Dancing, Shopping & Relaxing
· The USA Dance North Central Texas Chapter will host a free dance lesson from 8 to 9 p.m. at the McKinney Performing Arts Center, 111 N. Tennessee, followed by dancing until 11 p.m.
· Alternative Furnishings, 105 W. Louisiana, will showcase art and jewelry from local artists including Carrie Cameron, Justin Hunt, Lynette Terrell and Charm Cameron.
· Spa Esoteric, 105 S. Church, will host an open house until 10 p.m., offering complementary chair massage, paraffin hand treatment, spa package raffle and 10 percent off services booked during the open house.
· Strada Verde, McKinney’s eco-boutique at 115 E. Virginia, will stay open late and offer special sales on their “green” merchandise throughout the store.
· Market Square, 101 W. Louisiana, will serve refreshments and debut some of their new fall merchandise.
