Five Trenton FFA members traveled to Lubbock Texas this summer to attend the 80th annual FFA State Convention. The theme for the convention was Ignite the Flame.
A guided tour conducted by Texas Tech students provided information about the university. Trenton FFA member, C.J Woods, was impressed with the tour saying that it would be a good school to attend. Members attended leadership workshops where they participated in group discussions about a variety of subjects. Members were also allowed to visit vendor booths, where they saw a wide variety of products.
General Sessions included keynote speakers, retiring state officer speeches and talent show contestants. Members were delegated to vote during different sessions. Close to the end of the conference members attended a dance for a “fun night” activity. Even though everyone enjoyed the convention, early mornings were brutal, but they survived.

Free time consisted of a trip to Main Event where members enjoyed bowling, laser tag, air hockey and food. One evening Whitney Benavides’ grandmother treated the Trenton FFA group to a delicious steak dinner at Cagle’s Steak House.
Attending members included Whitney Benavides, Courtney Hanes, Julia Lewis, Amanda Mister and C.J. Woods, chaperone Beverly Burdine and sponsor Jim Bob Bradley.
