Officials from Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches will join Grayson County College administrators at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 11 in the Administrative Services Building Boardroom to finalize an agreement that facilitates the transfer of GCC students to SFA to complete a teaching certification.

The articulation agreement enables GCC students who complete the requirements for its Associate of Arts in Teaching degrees to transfer to SFA to complete remaining requirements for a bachelor's degree. All of the upper-level courses needed to complete a bachelor's degree in Education will be available online.

"Agreements such as these are important to our students because they're strong tools used in advising students. The agreements allow those students who are interested in transferring to SFA, after completing an Associate of Arts in Teaching degree at GCC, to be the most efficient in taking classes while they are here on our campus," according to Shelle Cassell, director of Marketing and Public Information at GCC. "The addition of this online bachelor's degree will be very helpful to our local students," she said.
