Tarleton recognizes departmental outstanding graduates

STEPHENVILLE, TX—Twenty members of the spring graduating class at Tarleton State University were recognized as Departmental Outstanding Graduates during commencement exercises held May 10 on campus.

Faculty and administrators from each department select the Departmental Outstanding Graduates based on academic excellence and leadership qualities. Tarleton President Dennis P. McCabe recognized these individuals during commencement.

Graduates honored from the College of Agriculture and Human Sciences included Beatrix Haggard of Azle, Texas, in the Department of Agribusiness, Agronomy, Horticulture and Range Management; Kara Kelton of May, Texas, in the Department of Agricultural Services and Development; Leith Collier of Austin, Texas, in Animal Sciences; and Kimberly Stein of Brock, Texas, in the Department of Human Sciences.

Those recognized from the College of Business Administration were Nicholas Hoffman of Sachse, Texas, in Accounting, Finance and Economics; Michael Bruce of Huckabay, Texas, in Computer Information Systems; and Elaine Chew of Stephenville in Management, Marketing and Administrative Systems.

The College of Education selected Holly Moreno of Mansfield, Texas, to represent the Department of Curriculum and Instruction; Anthony Mason of Granbury, Texas, from the Educational Administration, Counseling and Psychology; and Sharon Brown of Waco, Texas, from the Department of Health and Physical Education.

Departmental Outstanding Graduates from the College of Liberal and Fine Arts were Jessica Farrar of Royse City, Texas, in English and Languages; Lindsay Wright of Lipan, Texas, in Communcation Studies; Sarah Warner of Dublin, Texas, for Fine Arts; Elizabeth Rosenfeld of Granbury in Social Sciences; and Patrice Freeny of Flower Mound, Texas, in Social Work, Sociology and Criminal Justice.

Graduates honored by the College of Science and Technology were Kim Fehlis of Round Rock, Texas, in Biological Sciences; O’dell Hicks in Chemistry, Geoscience and Environmental Science; William Elkins of Huckabay in Engineering Technology; Deborah Thomas of Rockford, Ill., in Nursing; and Jose Pacheco of DeLeon, Texas in Mathematics, Physics and Engineering.
