Golf tournament, concert to establish scholarship in memory of Honey Grove teacher

The students of Honey Grove Middle School lost their English teacher, Mrs. Horner, due to a fatal car accident in November of last year.  She was a school teacher for 27 years and for the last 10 years, has taught the students of Honey Grove.  Mrs. Horner had a passion for teaching students to write. 

Even though she is gone, this scholarship fund will allow her legacy to live on. 

The 1st Annual Melinda Horner Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held at the Honey Grove Golf Course on Saturday, June 28 beginning at 8 a.m.  4 person scramble.  Cost is $200 per team, 27 hole format.  5 Mulligans per team for $15. 

Special performance by Honey Grove’s own Tyler Dow Bryant will follow at the Honey Grove Elementary Cafeteria at 7:30 p.m.  Cost is $7 per person.  Silent auction and dinner will begin at 6 p.m. with live auction held throughout the concert.  Enter to win an autographed guitar signed by Tyler! 

Auction items include White Tail Doe Hunt for Two at M&M Ranch, located southwest of Rocksprings, Texas, Pro contract for a day with the McKinney Blue Thunder professional baseball team, University of Texas football autographed by Mack Brown, Texas Rangers tickets and much more.
