The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Texas National Cemetery Foundation (TNCF) invite the public to attend a Memorial Day ceremony at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on Monday, May 26 at 3 p.m.

Gov. Rick Perry will give keynote remarks along with remarks by Lt. Gen. Joseph Weber, USMC. For the second time, the program includes a special "cannon salute" from the 2nd Battalion, 14th Marines.

Other program highlights include: a fly over; a wreath-laying ceremony; posting of the colors; Taps; and the Reflections Home School Choir and Mountain View College Community Band will perform patriotic musical renditions before and after the ceremonies. We will also be flying 265 memorial flags along the Avenue of Flags.

The 638-acre cemetery opened May 2000 and is located in the southwestern part of Dallas adjacent to Mountain Creek Lake. Since inception, the cemetery has conducted more than 21,300 interments of veterans and immediate dependents and laid to rest 30 soldiers from Operation Iraqi/Enduring Freedom.  More than 500,000 veterans live in North-Central Texas.
