05-12-08   Deputy John Pearson responded to a call of buffalo on Hwy-121 and Binion Road east of Van Alstyne.  Upon his arrival he observed five buffalo on the roadway.  He managed to get them off of the highway onto Binion Road, but could not get them much farther.  Lt. David Hawley arrived to assist until an owner could be located.  After about 30 minutes, the owner’s son arrived and attempted to get the animals to follow him with a bucket of feed.  They instead entered a pasture where they stayed until the son could get some help to get them back to the pasture.  His help arrived and the buffalo were placed back in the pasture.

The driver then told officers he had failed to stop because he had outstanding parking tickets.  He now faces Evading with a Vehicle, Reckless Driving, Deadly Conduct, No Valid Drivers License and no Insurance.  Bond has not been set and the man will see the judge sometime Wednesday morning.
