PRIAIRIE VIEW, Texas -- Kara Willis was crowned Miss Prairie View A&M University 2008-2009 during the university’s 39th annual scholarship pageant. Willis, age 21, is a junior agriculture economics major from Houston.
The pageant was held in the Opal Johnson Smith Auditorium in the Willie Albert Tempton Sr., Memorial Student Center.

Upon graduation Willis plans to attend law school and pursue a career in environmental law. She is the daughter of Miles and Linda Willis.
Vorice Batts placed first runner up and Charli Cooksey was chosen as second runner up. The other pageant contestants were Candace Culmer, Jabreel Walker, Sheree White, Monique Jones, Brittany Wingate and Antoinette Allen.
