The girls doubles team of Kylie Bishop, senior, and Becky Forbus, sophomore, continued their winning ways at the Region II-AA Tennis Tournament held in Stephenville April 21-24.  Following their District 13 championship two weeks ago, they polished off all four opponents in Stephenville, concluding with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over defending regional champion Holliday in the regional championship match.

They will now advance to the state tournament to be held at the University of Texas campus in Austin on May 5-6.

Ben Forbus reached the regional final, with a thrilling 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 semifinal victory over Irving North Hills.  Ben fell short of advancing to the state tournament, falling to Ponder in the playback match.

Zach Brooks and Chase Daniel, the boys doubles district champs, placed 4th in the regional competition, falling to the eventual runner-up Brock in a tight semifinal match 7-5, 6-4.

Farmersville’s mixed doubles team of James Wise & Adeline Lira fought hard, but lost in a third set tiebreaker to the eventual third place Irving North Hills team.

It was a very successful season for the senior-laden Farmersville tennis program, accumulating many tournament championships and medals along the way over the last few years, including a second consecutive district championship this year.  The team is led by Coach Clint Clayton.
