MCKINNEY - The Leonard Tigers fell just short of a return trip to regionals this week, finishing third in the District 13-2A Championships Monday at Oak Hollow Golf Course.
Leonard produced a team score of 348, which trailed only Krum (332) and Blue Ridge (336).
Senior Trent Borchardt and sophomore Matt Williams led the Tigers with rounds of 84, good for a tie for sixth place individually with Cameron Cannon of Farmersville. Klay Dodd of Krum was the district champion with his round of 73, one shot better than T.J. Altekruse of Blue Ridge.
Curtis Stanley of Farmersville was third at 76, and Tye McKinney of Blue Ridge tied for fourth at 80 with Drew Wheeler of Krum. Williams came back Wednesday to win on the fifth hole of a playoff over Cannon and Borchardt for the final medalist slot at regionals.
