Last Sunday, January 13, wasn’t a good day for the Dallas Cowboys, but it was a great day for the North Texas History Center. About 300 visitors attended the Open House to kick off the 2008 Civil War Era exhibit.
It was a wonderful opportunity to visit with old friends of the museum like Jim Wilmeth of McKinney and his sister, Nancy (Wilmeth) Buck of Houston, who enjoyed seeing the reproduction Wilmeth family letters. It was also a day for making new friends such as Steve and Kathy Hufstetler of Lucas and Tricia Abramson of Coppell.
Jim Wilmeth, Nancy Wilmeth Buck, and other family members review The Wilmeth Family Letters exhibit.
NTHC’s corporate partners were represented with Carolyn and Ray Corbin, Center for the 21st Century, and Northwestern Mutual Financial’s Mark Yablon who came with his daughter, Natalie.
If you didn’t make it to the open house, you can visit seven days a week. The Civil War Era exhibit will remain through mid-June. NTHC is located at 300 E. Virginia in downtown McKinney. For additional information see the website: http://www.northtexashistorycenter.org/ or call 972.542.9457.

Teens through seniors take in the NTHC exhibit.

Everyone enjoys the chance to touch history, not just read about it.
